Sarah

Hi, my name is Sarah and I’m the Area Co-Ordinator for Merseyside.

I was diagnosed with hEDS in 2019 with my path to diagnosis being complicated due to other illnesses that never fully encompassed all of my symptoms. I’ve been happily married for 11 years and also have my three troublesome fur-baby cats (Charlie, Fred & George) to keep me on my toes.

I have a Masters Degree in Chemistry and worked as a drug discovery scientist for GlaxoSmithKline before my illnesses meant I was no longer able to work. I love all things crafty including sewing and baking and I’m always looking for something new to have a go at as I find that really helps with my mental health.

My own battle with EDS has given me an awareness of how disabilities affect people in different ways and I’m hoping to use my experience to help other zebras with all the problems EDS throws at us.
