Aimee

Hi everyone, my name is Aimée (they/them) and I am excited to meet you all!

My own path to getting diagnosed with hEDS (alongside other chronic conditions) was long and debilitating – I hadn’t even heard of EDS until my diagnosis in 2018, so I instantly got why we’ve adopted zebras as our mascot (lots of doctors suggested ‘horses’)! I was very thankful to find the EDS UK website and found it validating to find others like me and reassurance it wasn’t ‘all in my head’!

I want to help provide others with a sense of community and a safe space to be themselves and find support. I’m neurodivergent myself, and researching links between EDS and ADHD/autism became a special interest for me, as well as finding ways to manage and improve my condition.

I love music (everything from classical to metal!), and have lived abroad several times, including Japan for several years. I love the outdoors and feel very lucky my mobility has improved enough to run through nature! I aim to create a welcoming space of connection and support for zebras of all kinds and hope to see you soon.
