This week, ARMA published their new policy report, MSK Health – The Foundation of a Thriving Nation.
This is the second in our series of papers exploring the contribution of better MSK health to wider national priorities. Building on MSK Health – The Foundation of a Healthy Nation, our latest report makes the case that MSK health is fundamental not only to people’s health and wellbeing, but also to education, employment, independence and economic prosperity.
With 21.3 million people in the UK living with an MSK condition, we argue that better MSK health must be recognised well beyond the NHS.
The report reinforces ARMA’s three central calls for action:
- A national, cross-government MSK strategy, with clear leadership and accountability.
- MSK health embedded across national policy and programmes for health and social care, inequalities, education and skills, employment and economic growth.
- A national framework for local action, supporting earlier intervention and more coordinated, person-centred approaches.
